Learn South Australia's Kaurna Culture through Aboriginal Immersions

Welcome to Aboriginal Cultural Immersions, where you can book Aboriginal art workshops, traditional culture and dance performances in South Australia with our Nunga brothers and sisters on Kaurna Yarta (Adelaide).

We celebrate Aboriginal history and culture through Indigenous art workshops, classes, and cultural learning activities in Adelaide, featuring our Aboriginal artists and culture educators for Corporate, Government, and University Clients.

The region is shared by different language groups, notably the Kaurna and Peramangk peoples, who have lived side by side throughout the Adelaide Plains and Adelaide Hills for thousands of years.

Aboriginal Cultural Immersions provides Aboriginal artists, musicians, and performers for Indigenous art and culture workshops and team-building activities throughout the region.

These programs are designed to foster engagement with our local Aboriginal facilitators, who in turn bring extensive knowledge and a passion to your event to assist your team in understanding the histories and cultures of Aboriginal people on Country.

Kaurna People in Contemporary Adelaide

Today, Kaurna people still live in Adelaide and practice their culture. Their role as custodians is now more widely recognised through Welcome to Country ceremonies, public art, and cultural events. Organisations and Elders play important roles in cultural education, heritage protection, and community leadership. Kaurna language and culture are visible in schools, universities, and civic spaces.

Although there has been progress, challenges like social inequality, health gaps, and the lasting effects of generational trauma still exist.

Cultural Revitalisation and Education

Reviving culture is at the heart of Kaurna community work. Language programs, learning on Country, and cultural education help pass knowledge to younger generations.

Elders lead cultural practices and make sure knowledge is shared with respect. Education is key for reconciliation and for recognising Kaurna culture as a core part of Adelaide’s identity.

Non-Indigenous Australians should engage respectfully with Kaurna history and support initiatives led by Indigenous people.

National Sorry Day 2026

May 26th 2026 - We remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.

National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all share in the healing process.

National Reconciliation Week

The National Reconciliation Week starts on the 27th May and runs to the 3rd of June 2026.

The 2026 theme, All In, makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport, and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

NAIDOC Week 2026

The 2026 National NAIDOC Week theme is '50 Years Deadly'

Held across Australia between July 5th and 12th, 2026, Australians have the opportunity to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in Indigenous activities.

50 Years of Deadly marks five decades of strength, culture, and community leadership. NAIDOC themes have honoured Elders, honoured creativity, and amplified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices,  capturing where our people have been and where Australia must continue to listen.

We pay homage to the traditional owners, past, present and future, as caretakers of the lands which we work, live and play.
